Communication Support

AFD has created symbols to show which communication support is available for the services AFD provides.
The symbols represent:

British Sign Language (BSL):

A BSL interpreter will be present to provide interpretation and voice-over.

Speech to Text Reporter (STTR) or Electronic Note Taker (ENT):

A STTR or ENT will type everything that is said onto a large screen visible to all or onto a laptop screen for individuals.

Hearing Loop: A loop system will be operating for those with hearing aids that have a loop programme.

Lip speaker: A lip speaker will repeat what the speaker is saying, moving their lips but without using their voice. Lip speakers reproduce the shape of the words very clearly whilst maintaining the rhythm and emphasis of natural speech. Lip speakers may also use fingerspelling and facial expression.
